Jean Piaget was born on the 1st August 1896 in Switzerland, the first child of Rebecca Jackson and Professor Arthur Piaget. He attended a Latin High school in Switzerland. At age 11 he wrote a short scientific paper, which waswidely published. The readers were unaware of his age and considered him an expert on the topic.
Piaget went to University in Switzerland to study zoology. In 1918 he received his Doctorate in natural sciences. After graduation he began teaching at Grange-Aux-Belles-Street school for boys.
He spent a semester studying with Carl Jung which had a great influence on his interest in psychoanalysis. He went on to study abnormal psychology at The Sorbonne in Paris. He was the first non-Frenchman since Erasmus in 1530 to hold a professional chair at the Sorbonne.
In 1919 he taught psychology and philosophy. In 1920 he worked at the Alfred Binet laboratory in Paris. He became the director of the International Bureau of Education. In 1952 he became a professor.
In 1955 he created an international centre for genetic epistemology in Geneva known as “Piaget’s factory”. In 1980 Jean Piaget died of unknown causes in Geneva, age 84.(Biography.com)
